On Christmas Eve 1944, Hitler launched an offensive in a desperate attempt to cripple the Allies at Bastogne. What resulted was one of the deadliest and most prolonged battles of World War II - -a key conflict in the larger campaign commonly known as the Battle of the Bulge.
