Cuff Lockwood sets off towards New Mexico where he has heard the weather is mild. Outside the Wyoming town of Dunstan, he encounters the beautiful Shelly Harrison; but the next morning he rides on again. It isn't his intention to remain in the nearby town of Derby either, but he is wounded in a gunfight and a confrontation with a group of angry teamsters prevents his departure. He must decide where his future lies.
