It all started because of a rifle. US Marine Biggio bought a 1945 M1 Garand Rifle, the most common rifle used in World War II, to honor his great uncle, who died in Italy. When Biggio showed the gun to a neighbor, it prompted memories the man had kept unspoken for fifty years. Biggio asked him to sign the rifle. Thus began Biggio's mission to find as many WWII veterans as he could to sign the rifle and document their stories.
