Ishi, lone survivor of the exterminated Yahi tribe, stumbled into the twentieth century when, desperate with hunger and terrified of the white murderers of his family, he was found in a slaughter house in California. Identified as a Yahi by an anthropologist, Ishi lived the rest of his life under the care and protection of the staff at the University of California's Museum of Anthropology.
