Bhima, a domestic servant, works in the Bombay home of Sera Dubash. Sera's opulent surroundings hide the shame of her abusive marriage. Bhima sacrifices all for her granddaughter whose education will enable them to escape the slums. Despite being separated by blood and class, Bhima and Sera are bound by gender and experiences.
